In the center, representation of the "Foundation of Caracas by Diego de Losada" surrounded by a monks, Indians and soldiers (Founding of Caracas - On 25 July 1567, Captain Diego de Losada laid the foundations of the city of Santiago de León de Caracas). On the top, the issuer authority "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA" with two serial number in red below. In the upper left and bottom right, the value "CINCO" inside guilloche oval; In the upper right value "5" inside a circle guilloche; In the bottom left value "5" inside a guilloche with the value in words and payment clause "CINCO BOLÍVARES" / "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO", At right of the number "CUATRICENTENARIO DE LA FUNDACION DE CARACAS / 1567-1967" (Quadricentenary of the foundation of Caracas).
Reverse: In the center, early plan of Santiago de Leуn de Caracas done in 1578 by Diego de Henares by order of Governor Don Juan de Pimentel, at left Coat of Arms of Caracas, and at the right Coat of Arms or Venezuela. In each corner, the value "5" over varying gilloche. On the top, the issuer authority "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA", and on the bottom the value in words "CINCO BOLÍVARES".
Common name: This note was known as "Dieguitos".
Conmemotative motive: Quadricentenary of the foundation of Caracas, which was on July 25th 1567 by the captain Don Diego de Losada.
Designer or engraver: The design of the obverse representation of Diego was done by Felipe Sánchez, and the Simon Bolivar portrait was done by Alfred Sealey.
