Obverse: Marianne de Dulac or (Marianne de Londres).
Marianne - national emblem of France and an allegory of Liberty and Reason.


Edmund Dulac chose as his model, Lea, the wife of his friend Emile Rixens, for creating an image of Marianne for stamps and banknotes of Free France during World War II. Engraving was done at de La Rue, by Leonard Phillips.

On 2 December 1941, the French National Committee, Government of Free France, created by ordinance the Central Fund of Free France (Caisse centrale de la France libre). Central Fund of Free France was created for "issue bearer notes and metal coins with legal tender in designated territories." It issues the CFA franc in French Equatorial Africa, Cameroon, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, French Polynesia and New Caledonia, and after their joining, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Reunion, Djibouti, Madagascar, French West Africa, etc..

February 2, 1944, it changed its name to the "Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer".
