Obverse: Sail ship left. Denomination numeral (5) beneath star in upper left field. The design is based on the city seal of the 1399. The Sail ship is a stylized Cog, a North European merchant ship of the 13 -15 centuries used by the Hansa.

Reverse: Motto above shield of the Free City of Danzig, held by roaring lions, guardians of the Free State of Danzig. Pellet below.
