The hand engraved portrait of the mathematician Jurij Vega is the main motif on the front of the banknote. The profile silhouette filled up with microwriting completes the image. In the left hand area of the banknote the motif of the drawing from Vega´s Treatise on the Sphere is printed by the intaglio method. The watermark bears the face of Jurij Vega.

The back pictures the solar system and a drawing of the front facade of the Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Slovenian banknotes - Slovenia paper money
In 1992, the Bank of Slovenia introduced the following banknotes (10 tolarjev, 20 tolarjev, 50 tolarjev, 100 tolarjev, 200 tolarjev, 500 tolarjev, 1000 tolarjev, 5000 tolarjev, 10000 tolarjev), all of which feature notable Slovenes. The banknotes were designed by Miljenko Licul and coauthors, whereas portraits were drawn by Rudi Španzel. They were printed by the British company De La Rue on paper produced in Radeče, Slovenia.

Baron Jurij Bartolomej Vega (also correct Veha; official Latin: Georgius Bartholomaei Vecha; German: Georg Freiherr von Vega) (born Vehovec, March 23, 1754 – September 26, 1802) was a Slovene mathematician, physicist and artillery officer.
