Obverse: Portrait of Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana at left and Minerva (Goddess of Science, Art and War) at right, the denomination value "500" within a guilloche at center. In the top, the issuer name "EL BANCO DE QUERÉTARO".
Reverse: In the center, A steam passenger train traveling below aquaduct of Queretaro, Mexico, on each side the denomination value "500" within a guilloche, on each side of Acapulco vignette the issuer name "BANCO DE QUERÉTARO".

Don Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, Marques de la Villa del Villar del Aguila, was a rich and powerful nobleman and patron of the arts in 18th-century Querétaro, Mexico. In the year 1756 he directed the construction of La Casa de la Marquesa, "the House of the Marchioness", a beautiful home for his wife. This mansion, an architectural jewel, is today a luxury hotel and a tourist attraction in its own right.
